Best Street Art Clothing Collabs of All Time

My exposure to graffiti and more specifically someone I looked up to, Futura2000, began in the late 80s when I first encountered his work in the Martha Cooper’s must have book Subway Art. This encounter left a lasting impression on me and I was captivated by Futura's unique style and artistic expression. It was during a visit to a Los Angeles exhibition in 2008 that I had the opportunity to see Futura's work in person, further solidifying my admiration for the legendary artist.

What set Futura apart for me was his ability to create abstract pieces on walls and trains, a style that was groundbreaking at the time. This innovative approach to graffiti art left a profound impact on me, inspiring me within my own work. As a commercial artist, I have admired how Futura2000 seamlessly incorporated his signature style into all his pieces. His commitment to his aesthetic served as a valuable lesson for me, encouraging me to stay true to my own artistic vision.

One influences Futura had on me was the concept of using one's signature as a brand. Inspired by Futura's example, I adopted a similar approach using my signature as a recognizable symbol. The fusion of graffiti and commercial art shaped my creative endeavors to this day, as seen in a print a created called Graffbooks that you can see here. Overall, Futura's impact on my artistic journey from my initial intro in the pages of Subway Art, to witnessing his work firsthand and adopting his branding strategy, Futura served as a guiding light for my development as an artist.
